In fall and winter the forest through which you have been walking provides excellent habitat for several species of mushrooms. Look for the red-and-white-capped poisonous Amanita Muscaria. This Low, damp place also provides habitat for other moisture-loving plants - sword fern, Bracken fern (with branching leaflets), deer fern (with smooth leaf edges), corn lily (with large leaves that have parallel veins and fold like a fan).
