Bowl-shaped Jughandle Cove, typical of the coves here along the north coast, has been formed by the shifting of the creek. Before 1976, the creek flowed into the ocean along its north side; now, it is widening the cove on the south. The creek is carrying grains of sand from the ancient beaches of the upper terraces to help create a new beach here; other material is being deposited by the ocean.
